You should always have a backup, just in case something goes wrong. Though Apple's iCloud Keychain is an excellent service for creating, storing, and syncing your passwords, it should never be the only password keeper you use. Instead of writing them down on a piece of paper you can save them in one app and only have to remember one password - the one to unlock the rest. If you're doing things right, they are complex, unique passwords that are hard to crack. Chances are, you have dozens of online accounts that all require a password.
